Hi, Everyone!

The time is drawing near for the 2010/11 FLL qualifying event for Vancouver Island. This year's challenge is titled Body Forward and presents the challenge of marrying technology to healthcare.

For those of you unfamiliar with the challenge please check out all the FLL, FTC, and FRC challenges at http://www.usfirst.org

This year we're expecting a record turnout. 18+ teams are registered across the Island from as far north as Cumberland/Courtenay to Lasqueti Island, to Half Moon Bay and on to Victoria. Last year we had well over 250-300 people turn out and this year we're expecting even more! We'll also be treated to a demo from our Junior FLL teams and FTC (First Tech Challenge) team.

You're all welcome to come to the event as spectators but, more importantly, as Lego enthusiasts I encourage you to volunteer your time to help out. 40 or more volunteers are needed to make this happen - from judges and referees to scorekeepers, registration, crowd control, security, concession, music, and photography/videography.

I currently have my judges and referees (I think) but am still in need of a scorekeeper, someone to help print up certificates and awards, someone to provide some tunes to keep the place hopping and a wide variety of other jobs. Heck, even if all you can do is put in your two bits worth and help make it an even better event then your input would be welcome!

If you want to be involved - and I hope you do - feel free to email me at mark@ShawniganLake.ca. Oh - and a big thank you to Joseph for maintaining this site for the Lego community! Thanks, Joseph!

Thanks, and hope to hear from you soon!
