New "Power Miners" set... an exclusive?

I was really surprised when I found this at the Victoria Toys R Us the other day, anyone know more about it?

Not a set I would want to buy really, but in an effort to learn more I also uncovered this awesome set:

Whoa, I don't think I've ever seen that first set. If I had, it was a long time ago and I don't remember...as for the second one, it seems familiar...and looks pretty cool! How much were these? Is the second one at TRU as well?

I haven't seen the 2nd one (8708) anywhere except on some forums, but the first one (8709) was in the store and lists on toysrus.ca for $99

I'm not a big fan of the Power Miners series. I'll be investing in the new Indiana Jones sets!
